John is a member of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) Prehearing and Settlement Conference Unit. He was appointed by Director Paul Tauriello as a Prehearing Administrative Law Judge in June of 2015. John was appointed Chief Judge of the Prehearing and Settlement Conference Unit in July of 2016.
John began his legal career in Chicago, practicing in the area of employer’s liability, subrogation and workers’ compensation defense. He represented employers, insurance companies and third-party administrators for nearly 14 years before moving to Colorado in 1998, after which John focused in the area of workers’ compensation law. He worked for several defense firms in addition to running a successful sole practitioner law office. John is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. He has been a presenter at numerous seminars, forums, and continuing legal education programs. John received the Professionals in Workers’ Compensation 2016-17 Division of Workers’ Compensation / Office of Administrative Courts Representative of the Year award for exemplary service and excellence within the DOWC and OAC.
