Background

Beth Harkins is a currently serving in her second term as MS Workers’ Compensation Commissioner. She was originally appointed in 2015 by Governor Phil Bryant and re-appointed to serve a second six-year term by Governor Tate Reeves in 2021. Harkins attended Mississippi State University and graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Health Related Professions with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1999. She is a licensed physical therapist that has practiced in numerous health care settings ranging from hospitals in acute care, intensive care, and orthopedic recovery, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities with short term and long term care, pediatrics, and school systems with special needs patients. Prior to her appointment to the MWCC, she appointed and served on the MS State Board of Health from 2013-2015. She proudly brings her medical knowledge, experience, and expertise to the forefront of her role as a Workers’ Compensation Commissioner while performing the duties of “the finder of fact” in appellate adjudication, regulation of self insured funds, production of the MWCC’s medical fee schedule, and settlement review and approval. I am honored and thrilled to return for the second time to the CWCEC. Thank you for having me.
